Directions
To make the apple pie with crumble from the tray recipe, preheat the oven to 180°C top/bottom heat and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Peel the apples, remove the core and chop them into small cubes. Here I often take different types of apples, because this it gives the cake an interesting flavor.
In a bowl, mix the flour with sugar, 150g butter, 1 egg, salt and baking powder until a dough is formed. I recommend kneading the dough with your hands so that the butter is properly incorporated into the flour.
Press about two-thirds of the dough into the baking pan. Spread the apple pieces evenly on top and sprinkle with cinnamon to your taste.
For the crumble, mix the remaining dough with the remaining 50g butter and 1 egg. Grind the dough between your fingertips until it becomes crumbly and then spread it over the apple pieces. In my experience, adding too much butter gives the crumble extra crunch.
Bake the apple pie in the oven for about 40-50 minutes. The cake is ready when the crumble addition is golden brown and the cake is baked through.
Let the apple pie with crumbles cool from the baking sheet before cutting and serving.
