Directions

1. Step

Start by washing the chestnuts thoroughly. Then score the skin of the chestnuts with a sharp knife. Be careful not to damage the fruit too much. The skin should only be cut through just enough to allow water vapor to escape and prevent the chestnuts from bursting open during baking. - It is normal for some of the chestnuts to burst when roasting. However, this can be minimized by cutting into the skin.

2. Step

Place the carved chestnuts in a bowl and pour hot water over them. Leave the chestnuts to soak in the water for about 15 minutes. Soaking the chestnuts in the oven will make them crispy and evenly cooked.

3. Step

Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). Place the chestnuts on a baking tray and salt them evenly. Depending on the size of the chestnuts, they will need between 20-30 minutes in the oven. Turn the chestnuts regularly to ensure they roast evenly. - The baking time may vary depending on the size of the chestnuts. Therefore, start checking the chestnuts after 20 minutes and extend the baking time if necessary.

4. Step

Once the chestnuts are roasted, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool briefly. Serve the chestnuts warm and enjoy the delicious taste. A tasty vegan delicacy in the fall season!
